The arrangements for the storage, distribution and utilization of oil used in pressure lubrication systems shall be such as to ensure the safety of the ship and persons onboard. PSCO reported significant lubricating and fuel oil leaks throughout the engine room and across all three operational generators. Specifically, excessive oil was observed in the following areas: beneath the aft door in the purifier room, near and around the v/v remote system, leaking from the gauge on the No. 2 M/E F.O. Circ Pump Discharge, under and surrounding the No. 1 H.F.O. Purifier, around and beneath circulator #2, near the lagging of the No. 5 H.F.O. Purifier and underneath the purifier itself. Additionally, fuel had accumulated beneath the covers of each operating generator, with oil pooling on and around each of the generators. 74 SOLAS (2004) II-2/4.2.3.2.3.1

External high-pressure fuel delivery lines between the high-pressure fuel pumps and fuel injectors shall be protected with a jacketed piping system capable of containing fuel from a high pressure line failure. A jacketed pipe incorporates an outer pipe into which the high pressure fuel pipe is placed, forming a permanent assembly. The pressure piping system shall include a means for collection of leakages and arrangements shall be provided with an alarm in case of a fuel line failure.
