No electrical equipment shall be installed in any space where flammable mixtures are liable to collect in compartments assigned principally to accumulator batteries, in paint lockers, acetylene stores, or similar spaces unless such equipment is appropriately certified for safe usage in the dusts, vapours or gases likely to be encountered. Inspectors observed lighting installations in battery rooms 26 B and C that were not appropriately rated for the vapors likely to be encountered.

Persons responsible for actual operations, including owners, operators, contractors, and subcontractors, shall ensure that those operations subject to their control are conducted in compliance with workplace safety and health regulations of this part and, in addition, free from recognized hazards. Inspectors observed a multitude of equipment on the 03 Deck Production Storage Room and Engine Department Storage Rooms not properly secured for expected vessel movement. Examples of the observed hazards included wheeled tool chests free to roll, cabinets not secured from tipping, and assorted industrial valves and equipment not secured on shelving.
