Where pumps and compressors are driven by shafting passing through a bulkhead or deck, gas tight seals with efficient lubrication or other means of ensuring the permanence of the gas seal should be fitted in way of the bulkhead or deck. PSCO observed oil seal on port motor in motor room aft bulkhead was leaking and empty. Ship's crew repaired on the spot.
