Resolution: Received ABS report stating that the solenoid valve orifice was blocked with small particles of mud. Solenoid was disassembled, cleaned, tested, and installed. All found in good order.

Pollution Prevention/Response › Prevention Equipment › Oily Water Separator (15 ppm)

1740 Pollution Prevention/Response - Oil filtering equipment referred to in paragraph 2 of this regulation shall comply with paragraph 6 of this regulation. In addition, it shall be provided with alarm arrangements to indicate when this level cannot be maintained. The system shall also be provided with arrangements to ensure that any discharge of oil mixtures is automatically stopped when the oil content of the effluent exceeds 15 ppm. In considering the design of such equipment and approvals, the Administration shall have regard to the specification recommended by the Organization. PSCO observed ORB entries indicating discharge through OWS on 01SEP17, 01NOV17, 15DEC17, and 12MAR18. These dates do not show up on the Oil Content Meter or ECR Alarm history computer or printouts. 0635 - Launch Arrangement for Rescue Boats - Rescue boats shall be stowed in a state of continuous readiness for launching in not more than 5 minutes. Crew was unable to launch the rescue boat due a reported faulty winch motor. Provide documentation from certificate issuing authority attesting to proper operation of rescue boat launching appliances. SOLAS 74a III/14

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report from ABS stating the deficiency was rectified. The class report stated: Vsl’s crew replaced the motor’s upper bearing and cleaned the shaft in way of the new bearing. The launching appliances were tested sat.
