A sensor must be located above the expected bilge water level in the following locations:(1) The lowest part of a machinery space;(2) The lowest part of a space containing a fuel tank when separate from the machinery space; and(3) Any other location when required by the cognizant [name withheld] detectors must be lowered to the lowest part of the space that is above the expected bilge water level. 46CFR182.480

Electrical equipment on a vessel must be installed and maintained to:(a) Provide services necessary for safety under normal and emergency conditions;(b) Protect passengers, crew, other persons, and the vessel from electrical hazards, including fire, caused by or originating in electrical equipment, and electrical shock;(c) Minimize accidental personnel contact with energized parts; and(d) Prevent electrical ignition of flammable vapors.MI discovered a severed live wire on top of the gasoline fuel tank that was not disconnected when vessel re-powered. Remove live wire from vessel. 46CFR185.100

(a) Electrical equipment and installations must be suitable for the roll, pitch, and vibration of the vessel underway. Batteries were missing battery covers and straps were not installed.

Except as noted in paragraph (c) of this section, stations in the maritime service must be licensed by the FCC either individually or by fleet. Issued station license is missing vessel's official number. 47 CFR 80.13

A vessel must carry either a first-aid kit that meets the requirements in 46 CFR 199.175 b 10 or a kit with equivalent contents and instructions. Onboard first aid kit does not have all ISO 18813:2006 e paragraph 4.12 items.

Each self-propelled vessel must have duplicate light sources for the side, masthead, and stern lights. Stern light not functioning. Repair/replace stern light and demonstrate to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.

The scope of the annual inspection is the same as the inspection for certification but in less detail unless the cognizant marine inspector finds deficiencies or determines that a major change has occurred since the last inspection. If deficiencies are found or a major change to the vessel has occurred, the marine inspector will conduct an inspection more detailed in scope to ensure that the vessel is in satisfactory condition and fit for the service for which it is intended. If your vessel passes the annual inspection, the marine inspector will endorse your current Certificate of Inspection. The center outboard engine is out of commision, unable to get underway for sea trials. 46 CFR 176.500

This part contains requirements for the design, construction, installation, and operation of propulsion and auxiliary machinery, piping and pressure systems, steering apparatus, and associated safety systems. Machinery and equipment installed on each vessel must be suitable for the vessel and its operation and for the purpose intended. All machinery and equipment must be installed and maintained in such a manner as to afford adequate protection from causing fire, explosion, machinery failure, and personnel injury. The MSD macerator pump was leaking. Repair or replace macerator pump. 46 CFR 182.100

Charts and nautical publications. (a) As appropriate for the intended voyage, a vessel must carry adequate and up-to-date: (1) Charts of large enough scale to make safe navigation possible; (2) U.S. Coast Pilot or similar publication; (3) Coast Guard Light List; (4) Tide tables; and (5) Current tables, or a river current publication issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or a river authority. (b) Extracts from the publications listed above for the areas to be transited may be provided instead of the complete publication. Vessels light list, tides and currents are out of date. 46 CFR 184.420

Each item of lifesaving equipment determined by the marine inspector to not be in serviceable condition must be repaired or replaced. The forward lifering buoy retoflective tape is worn/damaged. Repair or replace retroflective material. 46 CFR 176.808

Navigation lights. All vessels must have navigation lights that are in compliance with the applicable sections of the International and Inland Navigation Rules, except that a vessel of more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length must also have navigation lights that meet UL 1104, “Standards for Marine Navigation Lights,” or other standard specified by the Commandant. Vessels anchor light is out of commission and mounted too low cannot be seen forward. 46 CFR 183.420

Machinery installed on each vessel must be suitable for the vessel and its operation for the purpose intended. The center main diesel engines sea valve was left closed while underway causing heat damage to the engine and exhaust. Repair the same to the satisfaction of the attending CG Marine Inspector. 46 CFR 182.100

Vessel's first aid kit contained expired medication. Remove expired meds and renew expired meds.

The bridge electrical panel had an opening that could allow a person to come in contact with an electrical hazard. Seal up or cover opening to prevent accidental contact with electrical hazard.

The aft bilge pump float was sticking in position. Repair/renew bilge float to original condition.

Prior to carrying passengers conduct drills with CG inspector while underway.

Replace ring life buoy.

Properly repair the port outboard engine which had a mechanical failure.

Demonstrate safety orientation, fire, abandon, & man-overboard drills with the permanent crew to the satisfaction of an attending marine inspector.

Properly place vessel's name on stern of vessel at least 4" high.

Replace ring buoy light battery.

Make the Magnetic Compass Light o function properly.

Provide additional life lines to provide complete coverage of the bow/drop bow area.

Provide 2 additional adult PFDs. Until they are added on 24 total PAX may be carried.
