Each Towing vessel must have a means to monitor and control the amount of thrust, rudder angle and (if applicable) direction of thrust at each operating station. The starboard kort nozzle and starboard strut is damaged. Work with your TPO (Sabine Surveyors) to clear deficiency IAW with CG-CVC Policy Letter 17-10 prior to commercial operations.

Resolution: Received objective evidence via TPO that proper repairs were made and tested satisfactorily. The repairs consisted of replacing the lower gear unit with a refurbished lower unit, repair to the strut kort nozzle connection and realigning the propeller.

On 21 March 2020 at approx. 02:05 the vessel experienced a shutdown of port MDE due to lower piston liner damage and loss of engine oil pressure while upbound on the Ohio River mile 557. Vessel authorized to move deadship to McGinnis S/Y mile 480 Ohio River for permanent repairs to the satisfaction of TPO and Coast Guard.
Condition: Improper/Lack of Maintenance
