Each hatch in a cabin top must be weathertight. The hatch above the operating station leading to the upper deck is found leaking and not weathertight as required. It is also suspected that the deck surrounding the hatch may be affected. The owner must identify the cause of the leaking hatch and determine if the deck above the operating station is also affected by removing the ceiling liner above the operating station. The owner must provide a written description of the damage found and how the repairs will be made. The ceiling liner must remain removed to allow Marine Inspectors to determine the structural adequacy of the deck above the operating station.

02 - Structural Conditions › N/A - No Subsystem › Other (Structural condition)
Issued 11 September 2023
No resolution recorded
The connection of the superstructure to the main deck starboard, above the forward salon, is leaking and allowing water ingress behind the AC/DC load center and into the engine compartment below. The owner must determine the cause and extent of the leak along the entire length of the deck/superstructure interface and make PERMANENT repairs. This includes removing any rotted or rotting wood and replacing with new. The owner must also provide as much access as possible to this interface (i.e. remove liners or other impediments) within the interior of the vessel to allow Inspectors to determine the structural adequacy of the superstructure and witness a hose test of the interface to ensure no further leaks are noted.
