Issued 9 February 2021 Resolved
Propulsion machinery, including main engines, reduction gears, shafting, bearing, and electrical equipment and systems, must be maintained to ensure proper operations. Vessel received unknown Z-drive alarms on the port engine and shut down the engine to protect the equipment. The cause of the casualty must be determined and repairs made to the satisfaction of the third-party organization prior to departure from the Captain of the Port Zone. The vessel should a report from the Third-Party Organization to the Coast Guard once the CG-835 is cleared. The vessel is authorized a one-time, lightship transit from its location in the vicinity of Freeport, TX to Brady Island in order to drydock and conduct repairs.
