Means must be provided for stopping each fan in a ventilation system serving machinery spaces and for closing, in case of fire, each doorway, ventilator, and annular space around funnels and other openings into such spaces. Ventilation closures for both Main Diesel Engine air intakes were inoperable/malfunctioning at the time of CG inspector attendance. Repair to the satisfaction of the USCG and TPO

There must be an installed or portable bilge pump for emergency dewatering. Any portable pump must have sufficient hose length and pumping capability. All installed bilge piping must have a check/foot valve in each bilge suction that prevents unintended backflooding through bilge piping. CG Inspectors found active leaking on both shaft seals, corroding on overboard discharge piping on both installed piping systems for overboard discharge from shaft seals. STBD side is pumped on an hourly basis. Company was notified in 2023 of issue. Not noted on ABS Annual survey in 2023; Company fix was use of syntho-glass on affected piping- however, continued corrosion in extended sections increases likelihood of flooding in engine room due to backflooding through overboard discharge piping. Repair to the satisfaction of the USCG and TPO
