The gas detection equipment shall be so designed that it may be readily be tested and calibrated. Fixed gas detection is unable to be tested or calibrated. Accommodation space sensor reads 50% LEL with test, but the fixed gas detection panel shows 28% LEL. Vessel to follow procedures for testing of spaces using portable detectors per ship policy. Ship unable to properly test or calibrate system.
