Whenever damage or deterioration to hull plating or structural members that may affect the seaworthiness of a vessel is discovered or suspected, the cognizant OCMI may conduct an internal structural examination in any affected space including fuel tanks, and may require the vessel to be drydocked or taken out of service to assess the extent of the damage, and to effect permanent repairs. Ultrasonic gauging during AHE revealed a measurement of .120"(roughly 52% wastage based off an assumed 1/4" scantling or 36% wastage based off unverified report of 3/16" scantling) in the upriver corner of the of the compartment leading the Virgina end of the yawl boat. Provide repair proposal to address or further investigate the low reading. 46CFR176.600(d)
