At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification and re-inspection the marine inspector shall examine and test the main and auxiliary steering apparatus to the extent necessary to determine that its condition is satisfactory and that it is fit for the service intended. MI observed a hydraulic leak originating from the steering gear in the engine room and lazarette. 46 CFR 176.25-35(a)

...Such hose shall overlap metallic pipe ends at least 1.5 times the pipe diameter and shall be secured at each end by two clamps of corrosion resistant material. MI observed a missing clamp on the coolant line of the stbd generator. 46 CFR 182.15-30(d)

It shall be gas tight throughout its length and shall be properly supported by noncombustible hangers or blocks. MI observed blow-by on both generators and main engines, resulting in the accumulation of lube oil on machinery surfaces, creating a hazardous condition. 46 CFR 182.15-30(a)

Exhaust piping shall be led to the point of escape with a minimum number of bends or elbows. It shall be gas tight throughout its length and shall be properly supported by noncombustible hangers or blocks. MI observed an exhaust leak on the port main turbo.

The marine inspector shall examine all accessible parts of the vessel's hull, machinery, and equipment to be assured that they are in a satisfactory condition. MI observed the port and starboard shaft seals of the main engines are excessively leaking. - to be rectified at next dry dock. 46 CFR 176.10-5(b)

A door in a stairtower, stairway, and main vertical zone bulkhead must meet the following additional requirements: A door must be of the self-closing type capable of closing against a 3.5 list of the vessel. Door leading from main deck to galley must be adjusted to self-close. 46 CFR 116.435(c)(6)(i)

Each vessel must be provided with a visual and audible alarm at the operating station to indicate a high water level in each of the following normally unmanned spaces. High level alarm indicator on bridge did not have an audible component and must be repaired. 46 CFR 119.530(a)

An adult life jacket must be provided for each person carried on board a vessel. Replace all non-serviceable life jackets. Renew reflective tape and required markings as needed. 46 CFR 117.71

Each vessel must have adequate emergency lighting fitted along the line of escape to the main deck from all passenger and crew accommodation spaces located below the main deck. Automatic emergency lighting at galley and engine room escape not function and to be replaced. 56 CFR 120.432(a)

A self-propelled vessel must meet the applicable requirements for main and auxiliary steering apparatus. hydraulic oil leak from steering gear. Diagnose and adjust to prevent leaking. 46 CFR 119.600

The construction and arrangement of a vessel must allow the safe operation of the vessel... giving consideration to provisions for a seaworthy hull, protection against fire, means of escape in case of a sudden unexpected casualty, guards and rails in hazardous places, ventilation of enclosed spaces, and necessary facilities for passengers and crew. a) Adjust shaft fitting on port side to prevent leaking. b) Renew oil hose on starboard engine to prevent oil leak. Remove all sitting oil from leaks and repairs. c) Replace air vent fan guard in galley. d) Clean exterior of black water discharge pipe to check e) Renew stanchions on 2nd deck railings where wasted. f) Renew/replace electrical covers that are damaged and missing in galley, engine room and for peak. g) Relocate electrical box and extension cords near galley scullery. 46 CFR 116.100(a)

Each life bouy must be of an approved type, constructed in accordance with subpart 180.050. Ring bouy on starboard side 2nd deck must be replaced. 46 CFR 180.30-1

all observed unsafe conditions must be corrected. MIs observed excessive corrosion in the M.E. battery bins and on the battery connection terminals. 46CFR 176.25-50

each ring life buoy must be of an approved type, constructed IAW 160.050. replace ring life buoy grab line. 46 CFR 180.30-1

where life preservers are stowed the containers in which they are stowed shall be marked "life preservers" with the number of life preservers contained. re-label the second deck life preserver storage to reflect accurate number stowed. 46 CFR 185.30-10

Repair port main engine raw water overboard pipe. Pipe had spot that was thin approx 1 foot before going overboard.

Clean areas IWO exhaust ports where they exit the hull and make ready for inspection.

Vessel failed to provide servicing report for fire-fighting systems. 46 CFR 176.25-25

Semi-submersible pump bilge pump in fwd part of engine room found improperly installed (installed temporary jumper cable to a 110 outlet). 46 CFR 183.01-15 (a)

Galley hood and ducting system found with excessive grease. Clean to satisfaction of attending inspector.

Update lifejack placard with correct number (482) in the forward storage locker on the main deck. 46 CFR 180.25-15
