Electrical equipment on a vessel must be installed and maintained to protect passengers, crew, other persons, and the vessel from electrical hazards, including fire, caused by or originating in electrical equipment and electrical shock. An extension cord was found permanently installed in the galley via marine adhesive caulking to provide power for coffee maker and DVD player. Extension cord was removed and training was provided.
