Both ER bait motor electrical wiring entering the motor terminal box were missing a cable gland and insulation protecting the wire from chaffing on the threaded penetration holes. Each connection to a conductor or terminal part of a conductor must be made within an enclosure and have either: (1) A pressure type connector on each conductor; (2) A solder lug on each conductor; (3) A splice made with a pressure type connector to a flexible lead or conductor; or (4) A splice that is soldered, brazed, or welded to a flexible lead or conductor. On the port side of the engine room in way of the genrerator gauge panel, cables were found improperly terminated in a lighting fixture that was missing its cover.

On a vessel of not more than 65 feet in length carrying more than 49 passengers, the minimum capacity of the fire pump must be 50 gallons per minute at a pressure of not less than 60 psi at the pump outlet. The pump outlet must be fitted with a pressure gauge. No gauge was located at the pump outlet. Place satisfactory gauge at pump outlet to meet regulations and to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.
