Crewmembers from the HOKUA reported sucking the spring line into the portside jet drive which caused an approximate one inch wide by seven inch crack in the port side grate and is splintering approximately one half inch into the hull. Vessel must be hauled out, damage assessment conducted and permanent repairs made to engine and/or hull.
