A vessel greater than 65 feet must carry a rescue boat unless the cognizant OCMI determines that the vessel is sufficently maneuverable, arranged and equipped with a fully satisfactory rescue platform. During man overboard drill, crew members struggled to maintain control of the rescue platform.

Resolution: Verified rescue platform has been reduced in size to limit the amount of ladder hanging in the water. Platform was properly secured in place by crew without incident. Verified during 2019 annual inspection.
