QUICKWATER

This part applies to passenger vessels inspected under Subchapter T or H of this chapter. Watertight integrity above the margin line in a vessel less than 100 gross tons: Each hatch exposed to the weather must be watertight, except that the following hatches may be weather tight: Each hatch on a watertight trunk that extends at least 12 inches above the weather deck, Each hatch on a cabin top, or each hatch on a vessel that operates only on protected waters. The vessel's engine room hatches are not watertight, and are not on a 12" trunk or cabin top. The vessel operates on a partially protected route. Provide a written plan to make the vessel's engine room hatches watertight to the attending/reviewing marine inspector, then upon approval to proceed, make the hatches watertight as required.

On a vessel of at least 7.9 meters (26 feet) in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level in ...The vessels midship hold is missing a required high water alarm, audible and visual. Provide to the satisfaction of the attending USCG MI. 46CFR 182.530

The EPIRB test required by paragraph (a) shall be logged or otherwise documented, as applicable. Vessel to create separate log that clearly identifies the required drills and EPIRB testing to be presented to the attending USCG MI. 46CFR 185.728.c.

Valves for removing water or impurities from diesel fuel in water traps or strainers are permitted. These valves must be provided with caps or plugs to prevent fuel leakage. Provide mechanical plug to the bottom of the f/o filer/water separator of the MDE to the satisfaction of the reviewing USCG MI. 46CFR 182.20-45.b.7. OLD T

The discharge ends of fuel tank vent pipes must be fitted with removable flame screens or flame arresters. The flame screens must consist of a single screen of corrosion resistant wire of at least 30 × 30 mesh. Vessel is missing the required flame screen on the F/O tank vent. Install IAW with regulation. 46CFR 182.450.e.

Except as otherwise provided in this section, rails or equivalent protection must be installed near the periphery of all decks of a vessel accessible to passengers or crew. Equivalent protection may include lifelines, wire rope, chains, and bulwarks, which provide strength and support equivalent to fixed rails. The vessel's Man Overboard recovery procedures have the crew attending the stern platform. Provide a tethering system to the crew member that is laying beyond the vessels installed railing. 46CFR 177.900.a.

The vessel grounded near Oak Bluffs and caused damage to the hull and engine. The vessel must be hauled for further inspection.

Post a lifejacket donning placard.

Prove proper operation of electrical bilge pump (Aux) located in the engine room.

Provide new updated charts.

Remove or replace corroded electrical outlet located in the pilothouse.

Prove proper operation of the starboard side exhaust system water alarm (high temp).

Remove unused Alternate Current wiring in midships below deck compartment.

Repair/replace life float. Passenger count restricted to 22 total persons until July 1 (Start of warm water 50%)

Provide required retro-reflective tape on life-saving equipment (life ring, Float)

Vessel prohibited from carrying hazardous materials found in 49 CFR 172.101 with passengers.

Starboard engine knocking while u/w. Replace engine & test u/w with MI.

Public announcements made from the operating station cannot be heard without amplification throughout the accommodation spaces of the vessel during normal operations. Demonstrate proper operation of the installed public address system

Vessel was unable to demonstrate the proper function of the bilge system. Vessel must repair bilge system and demonstrate proper operation of the bilge system.

A bilge pipe piercing the collision bulkhead must be fitted with a screw-down valve located on the forward side of the collision bulkhead and operable from the weather deck. The reach-rod for the screw-down valve was not properly connected to the valve handle rendering it inoperable. Repair the reach-rod to allow proper operation of the screw-down valve from the weather deck.

Gasket on forepeak hatch cover did not provide watertight integrity. Vessel must repair/replace gasket to ensure watertight integrity of the space.

Jam nuts missing on port shaft packing gland.

Belt guard missing on stbd engine bilge pump belt drive unit.

Anchor light doesnt work

Replace circuit breaker face plate in pilot house, so that breakers are covered/protected.

Renew hydraulic steering hoses at steering ram. Hose shows signs of significant wear due to chaffing.

Label PFD count at stowage locations.

Label passenger limitations on weather deck per vessel's stability letter.

Tether paddles to life float.

Remove all dead-end wiring at battery box and dead end cable runs at port-side engine room.

REPLACE EPIRB BATTERY AND HYDROSTATIC RELEASE. VESSEL IS RESTRICTED TO NOT MORE THAN 3 MILES FROM SHORE UNTIL REPLACED.

PROVIDE PROOF OF CURRENT SAFETY RADIO TELEPHONY CERTIFICATE FROM FCC.

INSTALL CLIP ON WATER LIGHT FOR ATTACHMENT TO LIFE RING AND RELABEL RING WITH VESSEL NAME.

POST ALL REQUIRED CERTIFICATES ( COI, COD, STABILITY LETTER, FCC CERTIFICATES, ETC).

PROVIDE A LOCATION ON THE DOCK FOR A PASSENGER COUNT LIST.

INSTALL 100' PAINTER LINE, WEAK LINK OF PROPER SIZE AND ATTACH TOGETHER THE LIFE FLOATS AS REQUIRED BY 46 CFR 180.130.

REINSTALL BELT GUARD FOR ALTERNATOR ON STARBOARD ENGINE.

REPLACE BROKEN WINDOW IN CABIN DOOR.

REMOVE OR PLUG EXHAUST LINE FOR OLD HEATER.

GOUGE AND REWELD BOTH PORT AND STARBOARD SHAFT STRUTS.

REWELD CRACKS FOUND IN WELDS IN VARIOUS PLACES AS STATED IN WORKLIST.
