A mechanical, manually operated device to assist in launching a survival craft must be provided if: The survival craft weights more than 90.7 kilograms (200 pounds); and The survival craft requires lifting more than 300 vertical millimeters (one vertical foot) to be launched. The 25-Person SOLAS A life raft must be provided a mechanical, manually operated device to assist in launching it or replace the fixed lower rail courses with removable chain rail courses to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector (MI).

Gears, couplings, flywheels and all machinery capable of injuring personnel shall be provided with adequate covers or guards. The guards over each of the main diesel propulsion engines leave the center rotating shafts exposed, which need to be modified to adequately shield this area.

Class I doors are permitted within passenger, crew, and working spaces wherever located, if- In the judgment of the OCMI, the door is in a location where it will be closed at all times except- when actually in use. The Class I watertight door below deck in frame 30 was tied open while underway conducting a man overboard drill and shall be closed as per the COI and the Stability Letter.
