Stateroom H was found to have a smoke detector without a battery after attempting to test it. Vessel must replace battery and ensure unit is operational in addition to testing and ensuring proper operation of all smoke detectors onboard prior to carriage of passengers. Licensed Mariner must provide statement in writing, signed with their MMC Reference # to the full operability and completion of satisfactory testing on all smoke detectors onboard.

The vessels AIS was found in the off position at the time of the in service inspection but when it was turned on the AIS was still not transmitting. Vessel must ensure AIS is operating as designed.
