A vessel must comply with the structural design requirements of one of the standards listed below for the hull material of the vessel. Aluminum hull vessels: (1) Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Yachts and Small Craft, Lloyd's; or (i) For a vessel of more than 30.5 meters (100 feet) in length—Rules for Building and Classing Aluminum Vessels, ABS. Vessel allided with the pier after disembarking passengers in Provincetown, MA. Found vessel's starboard quarter external structure inset approximately 2 inches by 1 foot, with a popped butt weld between the top rail and topmost longitudinal external frame. Structure comprised of external sheet aluminum, framing, and welded tube which protects the jet drive and scoop, aft of each hull. No penetration witnessed in the watertight envelope of starboard hull upon internal and external inspection. Repairs shall be made to return vessel to original design, to the satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.

Immediately after addressing resultant safety concerns, the owner, agent, master, or person in charge of a vessel involved in a marine casualty shall notify the nearest sector office, marine inspection office, or Coast guard group office, whenever a vessel is involved in a marine casualty consisting of an occurrence materially and adversely affecting the vessel's seaworthiness or fitness for service or route. Vessel allided with the pier while mooring in Provincetown, MA causing damage to the vessel and the pier. Vessel is required to conduct a damage survey and any necessary repairs to the satisfaction of the attending USCG marine inspector. 46 CFR 122.202

Propulsion machinery must be suitable in type and design for propulsion requirements of the hull in which it is installed and capable of operating at constant marine load under such requirements without exceeding its designed limitations. Vessel suffered a fire onboard in starboard engine room due to an overheated PTO hydraulic pump on #3 MDE. Vessel is restricted from carrying passengers until repairs are made to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.

Controls and valves for operation of a fixed gas fire extinguishing system must be located outside the space protected by the system; and not located in a space that might be inaccessible in the event of fire in the space protected by the system. System engine shutdown pressure switched located inside of the protected space on both hulls. Submit plan to OCMI for relocation of engine shutdown pressure switches outside of the protected space. Upon approval relocate switches to a location outside of the protected space.
