Drills shall, as far as practicable, be conducted as if there were an actual emergency. The PSCOs witnessed one fire drill where the fire team had no life line or means of communication. The PSCOs stopped the fire drill and identified the problem with the Master and gave him an opportunity for training. During the second drill , the fire team was improperly wearing their radios, and the C/O was on the hip of the fire team in the smoking room, giving radio updates to the bridge. 74 SOLAS (14 cons.)III/19.3.1 - 17c

Currently the power supply cable for the #3 starboard electric driven cargo pump has multiple cracks through the outer covering including one 9" long and 3/8" at its widest point. When provided, any heating or cooling systems shall be constructed, fitted, and tested to the satisfaction of the Administration. Materials used in the construciton of temperature control systems shall be suitable for use with the intended product to be carried. Currently multiple steam valves, which are made of materials that are not corrosion resistant, are wasted or badly corroded. Numerous fasteners are extremely deterriorated. Steam valves for the cargo tank heating coils are located on the main deck along the elevated walkway.
