The master and crew of a vessel will be familiar with the content of and have mounted at the operating station, emergency instructions containing the actions to be taken in the event of fire, heavy weather, or man overboard conditions. Man overboard instructions are generic and do not match onboard procedures.

Each vessel must have adequate emergency lighting fitted along the line of escape to the main deck from all passenger and crew accommodation spaces located below the main deck. MI observed inadequate emergency lighting below deck. The installed emergency lighting was very dim and did not allow for safe passage to emergency escapes. Install adequate lighting from within all accessible passenger and crew accommodations to all emergency escapes.
