If a vessel is not equipped with a single source of power for emergency lighting, it must have individual battery powered lights which:(1) Are automatically actuated upon loss of normal power;(2) Are not readily portable;(3) Are connected to an automatic battery charger; and(4) Have sufficient capacity for a minimum of 2 hours of continuous operation. An area of hull plating deterioration due to corrosion was found in both starboardside sideshell plating passed the doubler rings at the exhaust pipes outside of the vessel. USCG marine inspectors and marine investigators learned through social media and news outlets (later confirmed through a vessel representative) that the vessel CAYO LARGO suffered a marine casualty related to a malfunction of the steering system's port side rudder post.
