A pilothouse alerter system is required on a towing vessel with overnight accommodations and alternating watches (shift work), when pulling, pushing or hauling alongside one or more barges. Until a pilothouse alerter system is installed to the satisfaction of a CG Marine Inspector, the vessel is restricted from pulling, pushing or hauling alongside one or more barges unless a second person is provided in the pilothouse.
