The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board, due regard being paid to moving parts, hot surfaces and other hazards. Jacket water leak observed on #2 cylinder of vessel's main diesel engine. 74 Cons. SOLAS (04) 11-1/26.1

SOLAS(20) I/11 - The condition of the ship and its equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that the ship in all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. The vessels exterior dogged door leading from the machinery space near the steering gear room to the aft end of the ship has degradeded gaskets and three holes leading to water intrusion allowance into the ship.
Action required: 40 - Rectify deficiencies prior to next US port after sailing foreign

Resolution: Received satisfactory documentation attetesting to repairs to the exterior dogged door.
