Propulsion machinery must be suitable in type and design for propulsion requirements of the hull in which it is installed and capable of operating at constant marine load under such requirements without exceeding its designed limitations. Duck boat reported a loss of propulsion while operating with passengers in the [name withheld], due to Power Take-Off (PTO) disengaging while underway. Determine cause of propulsion loss and repair or replace PTO. Perform satisfactory sea trials of the main engine and PTO to the satisfaction of attending Marine Inspector.
