Any main steering gear control system operable from the navigation brdige shall in the event of a failure of electrical power supply to the control system, an audible and visula alarm. 74 SOLAS (97) II-I/29.8.4 PSCO observed audible alarms for steering gear not operable on navigation bridge.

To assist in casualty investigations, cargo ships, when engaged on international voyages, shall be fitted with a VDR which may be a simplified voyage data recorder (S0VDR). PSCO observed S-VDR in a recording status with PSU battery alarm 118. S-VDR serviced on 07Dec2019 and technician stated batteries should be replaced as soon as possible. 74 SOLAS (2014) V/20.2 17ac

PSCO observed that OWS content monitor could not produce effluent below 15ppm & is not functioning as designed. MARPOL Annex I/14.1
