Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. The vessel reported a port generator failure due to broken windings in the power plant. Make appropriate repairs to the attending marine inspector or TPO. The vessel's TPO has the option to clear this deficiency with notification to the local OCMI within 72-hours in accordance with CG-CVC Policy Letter 17-10.

Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons on board under normal and emergency conditions. The starboard ahead clutch locked causing the main diesel engine to experience a loss of propulsion. The ITV GERALD MAJORS must tie up with H. MERRITT "HEAVY" LANE, JR (O.N. 1300155) and proceed to MM 954 LMR to drop off the tow. After the tow is dropped off, the ITV GERALD MAJORS must light boat to National Maintenance in Paducah, KY for repairs. All repairs and tests must be to the satisfaction of the TPO (TVIB). Also, TVIB surveyors must provide Sector Lower Mississippi River objective evidence that the starboard clutch assembly is repaired and that all tests were conducted satisfactory prior to commercial operations.
