The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended. It was reported that there was a propulsion irregularity. PSCO identified the #4 cylinder suction valve spring assembly failed. Conduct satisfactory repairs in accordance with certificate issuing authority. 74 SOLAS (2014) II-1, 10c

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report stating that the fractured spring assembly has be reinstalled as original. Operational readiness of MDE demonstrated.

Each liferaft or group of lifrafts should be stowed with a float-free arrangement complying with the requirements & paragraph 4.1.6.8 of teh code that each float free and inflatable automatically when the ship sinks. PSCO observed both 35 person inflatable liferafts were not attached to the weak link preventing them from float free. 74 SOLAS(a) 2014 Cons III/13.4.2
