A towing vessel of at least 26 feet, but less than 79 feet, in length must carry a minimum of two lifebuoys located on opposite sides of the vessel where personnel are normally present. Lifebuoys must be at least 610 millimeters (24 inches) in diameter. During damage survey the attending marine inspector noticed the life rings were missing from original location on VSL and not readily accessible. Vessel shall enact permanent repairs.

Vessel experienced damage to starboard gear box filter housing IVO Ohio River mile 308. The vessel and tow tied off near Ohio River mile 306.7 for repairs. Vessel required to conduct repairs and contact Coast Guard duty marine inspector when repairs are completed and before resuming voyage. Repairs shall be to the satisfaction of Coast Guard Marine Inspector.
