Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Vessel reported a generator issue in which steering, navigation, and lighting systems were affected as a result of an unknown issue. Vessel must diagnose and rectify the condition prior to movement from its current location near MM 8 Algiers canal. Vessel must provide a tech report and TPO attestation to the satisfactory operation of the generator prior to movement. 46 CFR 143.205 60ac

Resolution: An ABS remote survey was conducted. A service technician from Rio Marine, Inc. attended the vessel at Universal Services, Belle Chasse, and identified two broken sensing lead connections within the generator's regulator quick connect.

Vessel suffered a steering casualty due to unknown causes. Prior to vessel operations, vessel shall make permanent repairs to the satisfaction of the CG Marine Inspector or TPO.
