Suitable means shall be provided for calibration. PSCO observed ships crew could not calibrate hydro-carbins on portable gas detection. On 5th attempt HC could only get to 8%. Resolution: MSU Lake Charles received, reviewed, and accepted class report from DNV GL. The vessel was cleared from restriction.
