Each towing vessel vessel must have a fire detection system installed to detect engine room fires. When the vessel went to dead ship while transitioning to shore power from ships power the fire detection panel indicated a battery fault. Further testing by crew while on battery power showed vessel was not capable of detection a fire. Additionally a twist on fitting was used connecting battery's to fire detection panel. Provide technicians report attesting to the serviceability of the fire detection equipment.

Vessel changed original panel that was approved and certified by PE with a new panel. Have new System and installation certified.
