The crew discovered a leak in the rear void coming from the starboard rudder shaft seal. Complete repairs as needed to the satisfaction of the attending USCG marine inspector. Meanwhile ensure bilge pump is working, continue to conduct rounds of the rear void every 45 minutes and seize operations if the bilge pump is unable to keep up with the leak.

Resolution: A new motor for the #1 steering system was properly installed by a marine electrician. Wire connections were made using compression type fittings and a new rubber gasket was fitted in the junction box cover where previously it was missing.
