"Propulsion machinery, including main engines, reduction gears, shafting, bearings, and electrical equipment and systems, must: (1) be maintained to ensure proper operation; (2) be suitable for route and service; and (3) have suitable propulsion controls to provide the operator full control at each operating station" While underway, vessel reported a failure of the starboard main engine high pressure fuel pump. Vessel shall identify cause of failure / loss of starboard engine high pressure fuel pumps, make repairs, and demonstrate proper operation of the starboard engine high pressure fuel pump with underway sea trials to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.

Each towing vessel operating on oceans, coastwise, limited coastwise, or beyond 3 nautical miles from shore upon the Great Lakes must carry a Category 1, 406 MHz satellite Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) that meets the requirements of 47 CFR part 80. During inspection, it was found that the EPIRB on the vessel has an expired battery (April 2021) which does not meet required technical and performance standards. The vessel is limited to Rivers and Lakes, Bays, and Sounds routes until the EPIRB battery is replaced and EPIRB is in compliance with required technical and performance standards.
