The material, design, construction, workmanship, and arrangement of main propulsion machinery and of each auxiliary, directly connected to the engine and supplied as such, must be at least equivalent to the standards established by the ABS Marine Vessel Rules (incorporated by reference, see § 58.03-1), except as otherwise provided by this subchapter. Vessel reported loss of propulsion on 07APR2026 leaving TORCO docks for the second time in 2 weeks due to the oil mist system. The company is required to submit documentation from an authorized professional, such as a certified technician, specialist, or manufacturer's representative, verifying the successful repair of the vessel's propulsion system.

All marine engineering details such as piping, valves, fittings, boilers, pressure vessels, etc., and their appurtenances installed on the vessel, shall be designed, constructed, and installed in accordance with the provisions of subchapter F (marine engineering). Vessel reported a loss of propulsion upon departure from the CN Ore Dock in Duluth, MN. Vessel is required to make satisfactory repairs to the main propulsion engine to the satisfaction of the Coast Guard and Class Society prior to departure. If the vessel needs to shift births prior to departure to address repairs vessel management must request to do so through MSU Duluth. 46 CFR 90.20-1(a)
