46 CFR 182.30-1. All vessels except non-self-propelled vessels shall be provided with suitable steering apparatus. MI observed the steering ram is excessively lose in it's mounting bracket. The pin is steel and the bracket is made of aluminum causing corrosion and wear resulting in the excessive play.

46 CFR 176.25-5 At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification, the Marine Inspector shall...conduct the following tests and inspecions...so that the marine inspector may satisfy himeself as to the condition of the hull structure. MI observed aft Port and STBD mooring cleats to be cracking at the weld connection points to the deck in the steering compartment.

Each small battery installation must be located in a well ventilated space and protected from falling objects. 01 battery in the engine room port side was found with corroded terminals and missing cover. Clean corrosion and install cover to satisfaction of marine inspector. 46 CFR 183.354(b)

Whenever damage or deterioration to hull plating or structural members that may affect the seaworthiness of a vessel is discovered or suspected, the cognizant OCMI may conduct an internal structural examination...and may require the vessel...to effect permanent repairs. The 2nd side long below deck is fractured in the fillet weld attachment to the starboard side shell just forward of the aft engine room bulkhead, the 4th side long below deck is fractured away from the aft engine room bulkhead on the starboard side, and the main deck is fractured into the base material off of the corner of a previous repair on the starboard side just forward of the aft engine room bulkhead. Provide repair proposal and repair at next dry dock to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 176.600(d)

Machinery, equipment, materials, and arrangements not covered by standards in this subchapter may be inspected IAW standards acceptable to the cognizant OCMI as good marine practice. Pipe in the center hold that comes from the sea chest is open in the space. Opening the valve would cause would cause flooding in the space. Cap pipe to prevent water ingress if the valve was opened.

Machinery… IAW standards acceptable… as good marine practice. Stbd shaft seal missing 01 of 02 hose clamps on fwd end. Add 2nd hose clamp.

"Propulsion machinery must be suitable in type and design for the propulsion requirement of the hull in which it is installed and capable of operating at constant marine load under such requirements without exceeding its designed limitations." Master reported that the starboard main engine was overheating and producing white smoke, which is outside of its designed limitations for safe operating temperature. Vessel shall identify the cause of the high temperature, submit a repair plan, and complete repairs to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector prior to carriage of passengers or cargo.

High Level Bilge Alarm panel is inoperable. Vessel is to repair or replace within 14 days and is required to visually inspect bilges before and after each trip until rectifed.

Make repairs to port MDE.

CLSN: Vsl is broadcasting Invalid Call Sign, LENGTH DIFF: greater/smaller than expected vessel length

Due to suspected damage incurred after striking wood debris, the vessel must haul out for examination of running gear and to assess structural condition. Exam and/or repair shall be conducted to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector prior to operating as a passenger vessel. 46CFR176.670

Exposed breakers on bridge distribution panel need to be blanked off.

Provide up to date navigation publications and charts.

Mark correct number of lifejackets in overhead storage area.

Provide valid FCC station licence and safety certificate.

Vessel must haul out for examination to assess structural condition to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector and prior to operating as a passenger vessel.

Provide weight removed and weight replaced resulting from cabin modifications. 46CFR176.700(a)

Provide weight of ballast in void under accomdation space.

Do not exceed deck cargoo weight of 6120lbs as per stability letter dated 31 March 2011. 46CFR176.306

Install grounding wire on fwd and aft fuel tanks across flexible coupling. 46CFR182.445(g)

Renew FCC Ship Radio Station Authorization. 47CFR13

Provide proof of garbage management plan. 33CFR151.57

Provide current Light List IAW 46 CFR 184.420.

Provide complete first aid inventory IAW 46 CFR 184.710

Remove portable fuel tank from engine room space IAW 46 CFR 182.458(a)

Install suitable metal supports/brackets for wiring via water pump in way of accomodation bilge space IAW 46 CFR 183.3409(a)

Provide protection from electrical shock via battery charging units/terminals in way of engine space. IAW 46 CFR 183.200(b)

Install flexible fuel hoses in way of generator IAW 46 CFR 182.720

Install suitable strainer at bilge suction point located fwd of the collision bulkhead IAW 46 CFR 182.510(b)

Renew damaged fuel hose and prevent further chafing of new hose in way of engine room day tank. IAW 46 CFR 182.720(e)

Provide two B-II fire extinguishers IAW 46 CFR 181.30-1

Install two B-II fire extinguishers IAW 46 CFR 181.30-10

Renew as original, fractured generator exhaust piping and muffler in way of lazarette. IAW 46 CFR 182.430 (b)

Crop and renew to good metal, wasted metal in way of fuel tank located in lazarette. Two areas in question are located on the aft lower portion of the fuel tank and on either side of the keel.

Securely mount, ground and wire, the fresh water supply pump for the toilet flushing system, in way of the accommodations space void. IAW 46 CFR 183.372

Renew as original, broken port tail shaft.

Repair/weld an approximate 8 inch horizontal crack along the base of the exhaust port (stbdside) - transom.

Properly seal (6) thru-hull penetrations (holes) in the e/r water-tight bulkhead.

Provide proper stuffing of bulkhead penetrations from mid compartment to engine room and from engine room to lazarrete on the port side.

Repair sheered stanchion for mast light on top of wheelhouse.

Replace starboard side fuel tank vent pipe flame screen.

Port side lifefloat man ropes showing signs of deterioration. Deficiency was noted on a previous inspection and lifefloat was apparently serviced as indicated by the vessel's owner. Straps appeared in better condition than what was previously on the lifefloat, but still appeared worn.

Hose for forward galley portable fire extinguisher is deteriorated LEGACY COMPONENT DESC: Discharge Hose/Tube

Need metallic fitting on end of fire hose (garden hose)

Navigation publications not on board as per 46 CFR 184.420

Repair broken window in head.

Wiring in engine room lacks metal wire supports , repair as per 46 CFR 183.10

Engine room battery for starboard side needs cover.

Original license needs to be on board LEGACY COMPONENT DESC: License, Master

Lanyard for attached waterlight is over 3 feet long. Correct as per requirements in 46 CFR 181.30 LEGACY COMPONENT DESC: Buoyant Lifeline

Lifefloat man rope straps are deteriorated. Route reduced to limited coastwise 3 miles from mainland shore. 29DEC02: UPDATE- (1) Lifefloat missing due to being serviced, two others placed back in service. Total persons reduced to 24 persons.

Ensure all lifesaving is marked with correct new vessel name.

Install gaskets to the lazarette hatch and crew seating area hatch.

Grind and reweld the cracked weld in the lazarette at the starboardside on the bulkhead deck in the aft corner near the hatch.

Replace in kind the transverse frame located aft of the forward bulkhead inthe bunkroom.

Ensure all bulkhead penatrations are watertight.

Label all valves on bilge manifold.

Cover terminals on constavolt and cover or remove shore tie connection.

COMPLETE SATISFACTORY SIMPLIFIED STABILITY TEST IN PRESENCE OF MARINE INSPECTOR NOT LATER THAN 07DEC97.

REPIN AND REBUSH TILLER ARMS AND JOCKEY BAR CONNECTIONS.

PROVIDE ON BOARD A VALID FCC COMMUNICATIONS ACT SAFETY RADIOTELEPHONY CERTIFICATE.

INSTALL WELDED COAMING (6") ON ALL THREE DECK HOUSE DOORS (REF 46 CFR 171.124).

PROVIDE COMPASS DEVIATION OR CARD.

STEERING SYSTEM TO BE HARD PIPED FROM WHEEL TO RAMS. FLEX HOSES ONLY ALLOWED AS PER 46 CFR 56.60-25(C) TO BE DONE BY NEXT HAUL OUT OR WHEN

(REQUIREMENT E1 CONTINUED) NEED REPLACED BUT NO LATER THAN NEXT DRYDOCK.
