Each towing vessel must carry a survival craft specified in table 141.305 of this section, as appropriate for the towing vessel, in an aggregate capacity to accommodate the total number of individuals on board. For a towing vessel operating in warm waters on a limited coastwise route, a rigid buoyant apparatus must be retained on board and installed in accordance to 46 CFR 199.130. Until the vessel complies with this requirement, the vessel is restricted to operating on a river to include the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW), and not more than 1 nautical mile from shore.
