Repairs or alterations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant USCG OCMI. The vessel's port rudder contacted the port propeller resulting in damage to the running gear. Make satisfactory repairs to the vessel's: running gear, shaft, rudder, propeller, etc...All repairs/installations/tests and an underway propulsion test must be witnessed by an attending Coast Guard Marine Inspector prior to conducting cargo or passenger operations.
