At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification the owner or managing operator shall be prepared to test the steering systems of the vessel and make them available for inspection to the extent necessary to determine that they are in suitable condition and fit for the service intended.
Owner self reported loss of steering and took vessel out of service. Make necessary repairs and conduct steering test in the presence of a CG marine inspector prior to resuming commercial operations. Submit a CG-2692 within 5 days of the reportable marine casualty.

Sewage tank is leaking sewage through several cracks in the tank wall directly into the bilge. The tank wall appears to be corroded under the paint. An uncapped sewage pipe is also leaking sewage directly into the bilge. Submit repair proposal to USCG for review and plan approval prior to making permanent repairs. The repair proposal must include procedures for tank and bilge cleaning, welding materials used, tank plate thickness, piping/ valve materials and schedule, and drawings/sketches.
