Vsl failed to conduct a test of the emergency generator prior to entry into US waters. Emergency generator was left in the "manual" start mode and due to the vsl loosing power because of an associated electrical problem, the emergency generator did not start.

Controllable pitch propulsion (CPP) port not able to go to 100+/- degrees and is slow to respond. Chief Engineer stated that the system was frozen due to the extreme cold. Prior to departure demonstrate proper operation of CPP to Class. Class (DNV) attended vessel and issue condition to have repaired by March 31, 2008 CPP still slow to respond.
