Each towing vessel operating in oceans and coastwise service must have a line throwing appliance approved under approval series 160.040- Four rocket projectiles, each complete with bridle and leader of fire-resistant materials. Two of the projectiles shall be of the buoyant type. Additional equipment: The line throwing appliance must have:(1) The equipment on the list provided by the manufacturer with the approved appliance; and(2) An auxiliary line that:(i) Is at least 450 meters (1,500 feet) long;(ii) Has a breaking strength of at least 40 kilonewtons (9,000 pounds-force); and(iii) Is, if synthetic, of a dark color or certified by the manufacturer to be resistant to deterioration from ultraviolet light. Vessel is certified for coastwise routes and is equipped with 01 line throwing device and no axillary line.

Portable fire extinguishers on board found to be out of service with 01 portable extinguisher gauge in the bridge indicating low psi and requiring recharge. Portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers must be inspected, maintained, and tested in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 7 and 8 of NFPA 10. Provide servicing certificate to marine inspector.

Unauthorized clear-well located in the aft portion of the ENG RM. No person may operate an oceangoing ship of less than 400 GT unless it has the capacity to retain oily-mixtures on board and equipped to discharge to a reception facility or if it has approved OWS equipment for processing oily mixtures for discharge into the sea. Clear-well or bilge water practices shall be modified to the satisfaction of a marine inspector.
