Cargo ships shall carry one or more totally enclosed lifeboats complying with the requirements of section 4.6 of the Code. The normal equipment of every lifeboat shall consist of: a food ration for each person the lifeboat is permitted to accommodate; those rations shall be kept in airtight packaging.
PSCO observed multiple food rations with compromised airtight packaging. Port and starboard lifeboats had remaining 24 and 21 satisfactory rations, respectively, which have a capacity of 27 persons.
