GE Alarm did not work during dark ship when the generators were off. GE Alarm must work during emergency situation; such as, losing power. Repair to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.

Each lifebuoy with a floating electric water light must have a lanyard of at least 3 feet in length, but not more than 6 feet, securing the water light around the body of the lifebuoy. The lanyard was in excess of 6 feet. Replace the lifebuoy lanyard with a lanyard that meets the 3-6ft length requirement to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

The water light must be attached by the lanyard with a corrosion-resistant clip to allow the water light to be quickly disconnected from the lifebuoy. The clip must have a breaking strength of at least 50lbs. The lifebuoy's water light line was spliced and did not have a clip. Replace line with a clip to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

The master must ensure that all hatches, doors, and other openings designed to be watertight or weathertight function properly. The weathertight doors on the Port and STBD side of the engine room entrance did not fully seal. Repair the weathertight doors to ensure proper functioning to the satisfaction the USCG Marine Inspector.
