During each inspection or reinspection for certification, all wing voids, rakes, cofferdams, and other void spaces on tank barges must be opened and checked from on-deck for the presence of water or cargo indicating hull damage or cargo tank leakage. If water or cargo is not present, these spaces need not be gas freed, ventilated, cleaned, or otherwise prepared for personnel entry. If water or cargo is present, an internal structural examination may be required. Approximately 1" of water found in #5 and #6 wing voids. Pump out water for further inspection.

Scantlings, material, and workmanship, subdivision of cargo spaces, fitting of cofferdams, and testing of tanks shall be at least equivalent to the requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping or other recognized classification society. The following deficiencies were identified:
1. 6' x 1' sharp inset found on the port deck knuckle at
#2 wing void forward hatch. Crop out inset and renew as required.
2. Multiple smooth insets found with what appear to have tripped internal members. Have a certified marine chemist gas free space for further inspection of internal members and hull. For above deficiencies apply proper repairs in accordance with NVIC 07-69 or Class requirements.

* #4 port wing void - #6 fwd stringer and gusset
* #5 port wing void - #4 outboard vertical frame at #6 stringer.
2. Pick-up the following tripped welds:
* #1 Starboard wing void - #1 outboard vertical frame at #5 stringer.
* #2 Starboard wing void - #1 outboard vertical frame at #5 stringer.
* #3 Starboard wing void - #1 outboard vertical frame at #5 stringer.
* #4 Starboard wing void - #1 outboard vertical frame at #1 stringer.
