Vessel reported inadequate submerged communication system due to rain water intrusion into cable trays. Resolution: Vessel demonstrated ability to maintain submerged and surface communication during dive test, to the satisfaction of the attending Marine Inspector.

Whenever damage or deterioration to hull plating or structural members that may affect the seaworthiness of a vessel is discovered or suspected, the cognizant OCMI may conduct an internal structural examination in any affected spaces including fuel tanks, and may require vessel to be drydocked or taken out of service to assess the extent of the damage, and to effect permanent repairs. Vessel reported under water allusion resulting to damage to compressed air cylinders. Following damage survey submit a repair proposal to be reviewed and approved by the attending USCG Marine Inspector. Once repair plan is approved by USCG Marine Inspector complete repairs to the satisfaction of the attending USCG Marine Inspector. 46 CFR 176.600 (d)
