Each vessel that relies on electricity to power the following loads must be arranged so that the loads can be energized from two sources of electricity:(i) The vital systems listed in § 119.710 of this chapter. MI received report the port generator experienced an unexpected shutdown while transiting from a fuel dock to its facility. Serpentine belt failure identified as cause of shutdown. Serpentine belt was replaced and Kitsap ferry services/technician utilized the generator's down time to replace the alternator as well. MI witness operational test of the generator under a full load, all appeared to be satisfactory and the vessel was clear to operate under normal conditions. 46 CFR 120.310(a)(1)

uring an internal structural exam carried out on 30SEP2020 several shell stiffener connections to the collision bulkhead were found with through thickness fractures in the port and starboard hulls. Though these failures do not appear to pose an imminent threat to the vessel a close watch must be maintained until temporary repairs can be made. These fractured stiffeners must be inspected each run to ensure this portion of the hull remains stable. Inspections are to be logged. these fractures may be temporarily repaired by v and welding the fracture on both sides. Proper permanent repairs are to be carried out during the vessels dry-dock exam next month.
