While transiting up river, vessel experienced intermittent loss of STBD engine. While Transiting south at MM 85, tug Ave Maria experienced a loss of propulsion on their port engine. Conduct repairs and testing to satisfaction of CG marine Inspector or TPO. Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Duty Marine Inspector will accept an ABS report that satisfies the requirements of this deficiency. Upon satisfaction of repairs by ABS, any codes for Action that limit vessel operations may be removed, and the DMI is to be formally notified by ABS.
Action required: 60 - Rectify deficiencies prior to movement
Resolved 11 February 2021
Resolution: ABS Accepted as condition of class. Fueling procedures, tech report and ABS statement of fact were receieved and concluded that the vessel had taken on fuel contaminated with water. Vessel will conduct training to ensure transfer procedures are followed.
