The engine powering the cargo pump is located 80 inches from the cargo piping system, including the cargo pipe flanges and valves. As required by 46 CFR 111.105-31(l)(1)(iii), areas within 10 ft of cargo pipe flanges are Class I, Division 1 locations and only may have approved intrinsically safe equipment. The vessel operator must not load flammable or combustible cargo with a flash point less than or equal to 60 degrees C. Additionally within 30 days the operator must submit a plan detailing whether modifications will be made to the vessel or the Cargo Authority Attachment to the COI.
