A towing vessel, other than an excepted vessel, must have a backup or a second power source that has adequate capacity to supply power to essential alarms, lighting, radios, navigation equipment, and any other essential system identified by the cognizant OCMI or TPO. Vessel reported a loss of port generator, repairs and sat tests must be completed to the satisfaction of the TPO and CG Inspector.

Resolution: Tech's trouble shot the engine, changed out fuel injectors and faulty fuel pressure pump (injection pump). The port generator was tested under a load, all sat. Received tech and TPO reports attesting to the fully operational port generator.
